Artist Shelley Buschur has created a true beauty from the dazzling starfish earrings and crown to the beautifully sculptured and colored tail. While Mooisha is a lovely creature from the sea, she possesses some human characteristics that make her even more appealing. In addition to making people laugh, the artist hopes that Mooisha will cause people to have more compassion toward the lives of animals. Shelley was born in Flint, Michigan, but migrated to Houston “in search of adventure and inspiration.” Buschur claims she found both. She earned a BFA from the University of Houston. She likes to design costumes, wear and collect wigs, belly dance and organize community maypole dances.
