Looking for a unique piece of art for your home, garden, or office? Look no further--that is, if you're interested in a work with a bit of a bovine feel. This beautiful bovine is one of the nearly 330 life-size cows painted and sculpted by Houston-area artists and seen throughout Houston this summer as part of CowParade Houston 2001. This remarkable statue can be yours. Be part of the fun, and help an incredible cause along the way. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Texas Children’s Hospital Building for Children capital campaign and will help fund the expansion of the Texas Children’s Cancer Center.

Calculus turns the surface of the cow into a three-dimensional chalkboard on which to calculate the volume of the form. The blackboard was painted realistically with erasures, calculations and dimensions shown on the surface. Painted yellow measuring tape will depict the areas measured necessary to figure the calculus equations in this high level mathematical problem. This smart bovine includes all the calculations and steps involved in finding the approximate volume of the cow. Both the Jones art and calculus teachers consulted on this project.

This cow was sold in Flight 1 of the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that ran from December 7 - 13, 2001.
